Reflexology is an ancient holistic healing technique used thousands of years ago in Egypt and China. It is an art and science based on the premise that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body.  The physical act of applying specific pressure, using thumb, finger and various hand techniques to these reflex areas stimulates the body's own healing mechanisms. 

Reflexology is a drug free modality that treats the whole body, and helps to bring the body into homeostasis, a state of balance. Reflexology is not to be mistaken for a foot massage or any form of massage therapy. It has its own unique protocol. Clients remain clothed during the treatment, removing only their socks and shoes.

newest Board member Stephanie Canzonetta!]]> The Reflexology Association of Ohio participated in the Gift of Light Expo in Cleveland, OH on April 9 and 10.  Jerry Garbark coordinated this very successful event!  This was an opportunity for RAO members to work at the expo and introduce new friends to the many benefits of Reflexology.

The Reflexology Association of Ohio hosted a two-day workshop on Science Based Reflexology with Dr. Jesus Manzanares, MD from Barcelona, Spain.  There were 27 participants, 16 from Ohio, and others from 8 different states.   

This was a unique opportunity to study with a renowned doctor who has done research for more than 28 years with 70,000 clinical cases of Reflexology.  Dr. Manzanares shared his passion and inspired many of the participants to think about their perspective regarding Reflexology.
